check out my timeslips.. where can I improve?
I'm # 1158
this was done on baby slicks a while back.
I ran this today on street tires(Falken Ziex 205/40/16). I dont understand why I didnt run faster with slicks?
this was done w/ stock H22
93 civic hb
Intake & exhaust & FPR.
full interior and no LSD.

Nice, times, I'd guess that your R/T is hurting you some. It should be closer to .5 not 1. Funny how your first 60' is quicker, and the 2nd is on slicks? It should be the opposite....
your ET was faster but your MPH wasn't....this was because your 60 foot was higher. Anytyime your 60 foot time drops, your trap speed drops, and vise versa. Less grip gets your tires spinning faster and helping you increase your speed at the end of the track.

The 2nd slip is on street tires and the frst is on slicks BTW

You got some good 60' for street tires

2.1 60 footer on street tires is bad-*** IMO, especially with the H22A.
Now 1.99 with slicks, even the bablt M/Ts could be better. I've had a rough night with those same slicks to where I only pulled one 1.8er and the rest were 2.0 and above. The key is doing a hellafied burn-out and really heati g those bitches up.
One day at the strip I busted consistent 1.80-1.85 60 footers and another night like I said 2.0 or worse was my average.
I'd still like to see a dyno chart, because I was running 13.3@101mph with a 2,0 60 footer putting down only 175whp and 122ft-lbs. of torque to the wheels.
You need Hondata and tuning my friend. My buddy with an H22A baselined 155whp and then got Hondata and a few "kinks" worked out and got it tuned to the beat of 186whp and 160ft-lbs. of torque! That's ******* crazy!
A PROPERLY tuned and running up to par H22A should be netting low 13's on street tires in a DX hatchback IMO.
I think a problem with a lot of H22A hatches is that they aren't really running properly. I think a lot of guys don't want to admit it either, so we have guys swearing up and down that their cars are "running fine" but are only netting low 14's on street tires when they *should* be doing better.
I'm not saying that yours isn't running good, buit imagine having 186/160 in your hatchback - you'd be high 12's maybe even mid 12 on good slicks at a good strip.

Not necessarily. Not if the driver can't make the adjustment to the new motor to maintain his 60' time.

Very very true. And good information.. How big where the slicks though fast? That will also have some effect on your times.. And did you have to shift into 5th gear on either of the runs..?
There's no way in hell he'd have to shift into 5th IMO.
I was at 8700rpm or so with my ITR tranny, ATS 4.929FD, and baby slicks trapping 99mph with 13.3 slips with 1.8x 60 footers.
If I had the baby slicks and that close-*** gearing and I didn't HAVE to shift into 5th then I doubt shorty slicks on his H22A tranny would need to go into 5th.
I understand that the H22A doesn't rev as high, but I also know that the H22A tranny 2-4 gears are way tall and definately longer than the B series B16A/ITR tranny gearing.
5th gear cruising in a B and H tranny will be very similiar because of the H22A's way-short 5th gear, but again the 2-4 are pretty tall.
Well I'm lookgin at hos 98mph traps - that'd be pretty near the rev limiter in 4th gear, right?
What's the rev limiter on an H22A usually - 7800rpm or so? Lower?

nor sure how big the slicks were but from looking at them I would say it was as big as my 17" w 205/40/17s were.
I was also able to best my MPH @ 102. That I think should be good for a mid 13
I did not have to shift into 5th, I was about 1/2 into 4th when I hit the traps.

Agreed Tom, but I was just asking.. What shift points were you shifting at as well fast.. Its a well known fact that ludes dont make much more power over 7k rpms and stop making power at around 6.5k so maybe shifting earlier from 1st to second would help out a little..

Well at least try it out. After driving around my car for a few years I have still to find the utmost optimal shift points for drag, but I believe "in my own honest opinion", that you can get away with an early 6.5-7k shift from 1st to second and just redline everything else from there. And believe me the torque curve only goes down after 6.5 anyways, but staying in Vtec is a plus..
You may bet a little more out of 4th gear this way since you were only about half when you hit the traps.

you prolly ran REALLY low tire pressure on the slicks and it hurt your mph the first run. you ran the same time but a faster mph on street tires. you also prolly didnt launch hugh enough thats because you were spinning so much (60. ft shows it)
Next time you go and run on slicks launch HIGH and see how you do. Do not shift out of first until you stop spinning or until you are sure your going fast enough to where your rpms are very high. If you shift while ya still spinning and end up being low in the rpm range ya gonna bog and the run will be *****. trust me. also what tire pressure in the slicks are you running?
