Default "Locking" the stock seat belts

No, this is not a security question. At least not as far as the ITR getting lifted...

It's about keeping your butt secured in the seat. Has anyone found a foolproof method of "locking" the inertia reel allowing a more secure butt to seat ratio???

suck in gut. tighen the seatbelt as much as you can, even if excruiciating pain occurs, then yank on the seatbelt the other way, as hard and fast as you can.

I've heard of guys tieing a knot it the belt behind the plastic piece it loops thru at the sholder. But that prevents the belt from working like it should. If you want to get more planted get a harness.

Simply twist the belt once or twice before buckling it in. It will be as tight as you want it.

I do this but find to keep it tight for any duration you need to twist it 5+ times.
This does not secure the top 1/2 but the bottom is very tight. Great for Auto-x IMO.

I scoot the seat back about 6 inches, then snug the belt and yank forward on the top to lock it. Then lean forward against it to keep it locked, grab the steering wheel with left hand, grab the seat adjuster with right hand, and slide back into normal position.

It takes some practice to get the distance exactly right, but once you do, it locks the entire belt nice and snug.

There is also a metal loop or lock thingy that you can get to lock a child seat in place.

You can find them sold at places like "Kids-R-Us" and or other places that sell a variety of child seat and restraints.

It is more effective than doint the suck in the gut method or leaning forward in the seat and only costs a few bucks.

For this reason alone the keeping your *** in place, I went to harnesses and race shell. I just can't stand having my fat *** sliding all over the place when you dive through turns. IT is actually worse sometimes during some autocrosses but, it is a more fatiguing issue when on the track. 10 to 15 minute sessions constantly fighting to stay in the proper position is a total PITA.

Good luck,

A.

Great ideas. Looks like I'm off to Toys-TypeR-Us! The sliding of the seat idea is a great except I'm already too tight in the car (6'4") with the sliders all the way back.

I was hoping for a miracle mod on the inertia reel mechanism that allows me the best of both worlds.

Thanks again, folks!

You can try using the kiddie seat locker on the top of the shoulder strap to lock the whole thing. I haven't tried it myself, but I've been thinking about trying that kind of thing. I don't like to lock just the lap belt because then I just end up bracing my upper body against the steering wheel which is most of what I was trying to avoid in the first place.

Pull the seatbelt ALL the way out until it stops, as you let it back in, it won't go back out until you have let it all the way in again.

Is there a way to get the reel from another seating location.
Only the drivers side reels freely, the other have the child safety/seat lock.
