I came home around 2:00 last night, and between then and 8:30 (to go to work) my car got broken into. My mp3 cd receiver, papers, everything in trunk and even my cointray was taken. This happened right outside my house and I never lock the doors. I feel violated and would like to know what others have done to claim it (home owners or car insurance).

use home-owners insurance if your deductable makes it worth it, otherwise, lock your car, install lexan windows, install a motion sensor on it, and be sure to keep a shotgun handy... in other news people are stupid. someone broke into our car that just sits in our driveway a week ago (it was broken into quite some time ago and the window is still busted, the stereo still missing) I mean seriously what kind of ****-brained person thinks that there is going to be something to steal out of a car that has been broken into already and has plastic over the window

what are lexan windows? im guessin some harder type of glass that is harder to break?

 

I am fairly certain of this. Lexan is a very light-weight bulletproof glass. It is also used on race-cars for weight reduction.

 

it's plastic not glass and actually it's fairly brittle. not considered safe for street cars but it is very lightweight compared to glass.

 

That sucks dude....sorry to hear that. Since it wasn't locked though...heh. Just don't tell the insurance company that! Be glad they didn't steal the car though! My aunts MINT 60k mile 91 Accord EX was stolen back in the summer of 1999, and to this day was never found. She was heartbroken for a looooong time over that, lol.

This is what happened to mine about 11 months ago, right in my own apartment complex


They took my cd player, old cell phone (it wasn't activated, I just kept it in there if for some reason I needed 911), CD's, and my toolbox full of tools that was in the trunk (I had just picked that up from my sisters garage THAT night to take up to my moms the next day, and then forgot to bring it in with me...DOH!). Since I had liability only, my car insurance didn't cover any of it. However, my renters insurance covered the tools and the phone (which came to about $450, rough estimate). $100 deductable so I got enough to get some stuff back right away. Once of the first things I got though was an alarm. Even though nobody pays attention to them, every little bit helps. Plus it's one of those ones with the little LCD pager, so if the alarm goes off my pocket starts beeping like mad, LOL.

What a PITA though... I HATE thievs!!!

 

i just got my car stolen recently too. Bout 2 weeks ago, the dumb ****** stole my car while my brothers and i were in a funeral home. A FREAKIN' FUNERAL HOME! I couldn't believe this shiets. Anyways, the cops found it the next day a few blocks away from where we were. I got my radar detector stolen, change tray, intake, shift **** (not even aftermarket) and $300 spray gun stolen. The bastards tried taking my rims and clear corners...dumb ******...i'm just waiting for them to slip...
