Default Non-Car HID lights?

Ok this may sound crazy, and it probably is. but would there be any way to take lights from like HID non-car lights, (such as landscaping lights) and retro fit them to a car? I just keep seeing HID lights around here at houses for outdoor lighting.

I don't think this would work because the ballasts for these lights are powered by a 120 volt source, not the 14 volt (or whatever the voltage is for your headlights).

There are HID kits available for it, if you got the $$$$. If you are looking at a custom job and want to try it, I'm sure you can find it in the junk yard. There is got to be Lincoln, Benz, Lexus, etc. available.
