Ok, I need some 100% facts about the TPS on ZC.
I've been gettin a code 7 since last sunday.. I havnt gotten ahold of a voltometer yet to do this correctly, I've just tried a guessing and checking method. I'll loosen, adjust, start up car to see how it idles (ZC is supposed to idle at 730rpm) and see how much I need to adjust it from there.
I've read a post where it says you need to switch some wires for the TPS on a ZC. Im using a d16a6 wiring harness.. now I need to know exactly which wires need to be switched if this is actually true.
I'd also like to know if having the tps misadjusted hurts performance. I'd REALLY appreciate some 100% factual answers to these questions.. thx.

you do not have to swap any wires unless your car was a DPFI (throttle body injected) and was convert to multi-port. If your car is allready multi-port, don't cahnge the wiring. I believe i told you to chack the wiring harness ground on the thermostat. know you need to check the voltage at the tps plug and see if you have 5 volts at one wire only (forget which). then check the TPS with the ohm setting between the three legs. there are only three combos of this check. one will read 0 ohm until the throttle is open then go up to about 4ohm, one will read 4-5 ohm until you open the throttle then go to 0 ohm. the other will not change during throttle movement. do you have another ECU to try? it is possible, but not likely.
the TPS wires ONLY have to be switched when if you did the DPFI-MPFI wiring conversion (in which case it would be the 2 outer wires)
A misadjusted TPS can hurt performance.. think about it, if its misadjusted (depending which way) it may not be able to read WOT even though your pedal is to the floor, and vice versa..

Ok, so to adjust the tps I should hook up the voltometer to the tps PLUG and not the actual tps? I wasnt sure on how to do this, I was thinkin maybe tap into the wires somehow while the tps was still plugged.
Then once I have the right wires hooked up to the tps plug I have someone inside the car move the car back and forth between WOT and idle and I should have .5volts at idle and 4.5volts at WOT, correct?

Yes a faulty signal from the TPS hurts performance!
My workshopmanual says (electrical scheme) the Throttle Posistion Sensor hasyel/wht & grn/wht wires on the D16a6 engine.
Disconnect the plug and measure the voltage between the yel/wht (+) wire and grn/wht (-) and measure approximately 5volts.
if so : goto A
if not : goto B
check A
remove 3wire plug and measure voltage between pins C7 (+) and C12 (-)
it should read ~0,5 volts closed and ~4,5 volts fully opened
if so: try a different "working" ECU
if not: replace TPS or fix the shorcircuit in the RED/BLU wire between ECU (C7) and TPS
check B
mesure voltage between yel/wht and chassis' mass, there should be ~5 volts
if so: fix the open circuit in wire grn/wht between ECU (C12) and TPS
if not: measure voltage between C13 (+) and C12 (-)
there should be around 5 volts
if so: fix the open circuit in wire yel/wht between TPS and ECU (C13)
if not: try a different "working" ECU
I hope you get it working right!
