well a K series swap isnt a simple cheap drop in swap into anyother car other than a K series built car so why not get a GSR swap if u can.

I saw pictures of a 98 hatchback with rsx-r swap in it
the motor was sitting backwards in the car...... Now if they went that route..then maybe it would work for you too? Not sure though...

The k series requires modification to the wires and custom mounts. The gsr motor would probably require the same. The wires I know for sure, however I have only seen a few of the 01. However a gsr motor in this car is something I have yet to hear about. If you figure it out be sure to post about it.
nah its not possible. well with enough money it is but its illegal to put a 98 engine into a 2001 yr model car. the law states that the engine u gonna put into the car has to be of the same year or newer. example...96 gsr motor into 95 civic legal: 98 gsr motor in 2001 civic illegel. why? cuz of emissions laws. go ahead if u wanna do this but should u get pulled over by a cop and they find this out they can impound your car and they will not give it back to u unless u yank that engine out of there and put in one of the same or newer year. i dont think u would want to go through all this trouble. the reason why that rsx-r(k20) motor was sittin backwards is cuz the b series motors and the k series motor are completely different. the crank spins there other way so to do a swap like this requires major fabrication and i would think is more hassle then its worth the cost/time.

he didnt ask if it was legal, he asked can it physically be done.

Of course it's physically possible to install that motor, any motor for that matter with the right amount of $ and fabrication. It would be easier to get a K series motor and the new HASport billet mount kit made for 01-03 Civic's which should be out by now.

just to follow up, Area 51 has put a RSX K series motor into an EK, so I am sure that you can put a B series into a 2001, but, woullkd be very expensive and illegal as mentioned before. By the time you custom fit it, it would be cheaper to do the RSX swap...
Is that illegal nation-wide? Or just in some states? If you used a 2001 GSR motor and a 2001 Civic, it should be legal. But, the 2001-02 Coupes engines face the same way as the B-series motors, so that would seem easier to do. Just some thoughts.

All states have their own motor and emissions laws, some more strict than others (CA for example
). Using an older motor than the chassis is not illegal in WV where I am living right now. The only nationwide law that I am aware of is that vehicles are to be equipped with a catalytic converter from a certain year (late 70's - early 80's omewhere in there) to the present.

blk99vtecr...if u read my post completely i stated that it is physically possible shoot with money swapping any engine into any car is possible but im just lookin out and giving him a heads up on if its even worth the hassle of doing so. thats why u post up here to get other peepz input. im not sure but i think that law is nationwide. that u can't put an older model engine into a newer model car. im just merely saying that if it is where he lives and when he goes and gets his car registered and for some reason they find that about his car. they have the right to impound it. and now u have to take apart everything that u put into. this would suck if u spent all this money and made a fully built turbo engine or wutever only to have to take it apart. is that worth the risk...i would say no. lol... and another thing u cant put a 2001 gsr into a 2001 civic cuz the last production yr GSR was 2000. after that all b series engines were discontinued in mass production. ur best bet is to put a k20a JDM type R motor into a 2k1 civic. hella expensive though
