I'm so screewed!!! HELP ME!!
I painted my trunk piece taffetta white.
It came out good. I liked that it looked so neat. Was all excited and when I put it on this morning the color was off. WTF!! I used duplicolor spray and the claimed that it was OEM paint. Picked the color for my car but there was two. Taffetta white and polar white. What do I do now? I feel like an *** and now my car looks like ***.
It looks ok in the pic but when you see it in person it off.

I did use clear coat... a friend of mine told me to get a different type of paint at another auto store. He says i have to match the paint code not the name of the paint color... what do I do now? Resand it?
Your car is an older car. Your white will fade naturally over time. You can try doing one of a couple of things. Rebuff/polish/clay your car to bring out it's original luster or have the trunk and bumper professionally painted again so it blends.

Thats the thing. I looked up the paint code through duplicolor and it says I have the correct paint? WTF is going on? I'm pissed and confused. I hope someone has experienced this problem before.
even with the correct paint code, the color can still be off. no two cars colors are totally identical. that's why some cars look goofy when you get a kit painted with the right color code, but it still doesn't match.
Go to autozone and get some polishing compound. Its made by Turtle wax if I remember right its the green and white container. It will be a paste and its white. If you get the red dont use it because that is rubbing compound get polishing compound. All you need to to is remove the oxidation from your paint. If only you lived closer to DC I could do it for you. Its easy to do just rub it on with a cotton towel and it does the work for you.

I went to a local paint store that specializes in automotive paint. Told them my car code, they mixed some paint up. It matched 100%. IMO, I think this is the best way to go. Can't go wrong for $5 a can.
But then you'd need a compressor and sprayer, which most people don't have access to or the knowledge to use.
Some sort of CLEAR COAT (stress CLEAR COAT) polishing/rubbing compound will bring out some of the color in yur old paint. Clay bar was mentioned as well. Mothers makes one that's easy to use if you follow the directions. Even better, compound then claybar.
I'm a semi-pro detailer and this stuff isn't rocket science. Just take your time and follow the directions.
If all else fails, paint the trunk piece black again.
Good luck.
