why do u need to replace them? in my manual it only shows how to replace the rack.....id imagine u should change the whole rack not just tie rods unless ur ball joint is bad i guess

get 2 wrenches, put one on the tie rod end on on the locking nut lock the wrench on the tie rod end on some part of the bosy of the car so it doesnt move. Then give the locking nuck a good hit with a hammer (in the loosen direction of course!) and its off..

Make sure you put some antiseize on the tie rod end during installation of the new one

Hope this helps

like he said, and pay attention to where the nut and tie rod are located on the threads (the ones that they ware threaded to will be cleaner than the ones exposed) make sure to put it back as close as you can to the position it was when you took it off, or it will throw your alighnment out of whack real bad.

from 4dref:

The outer ones are the ones that connect to your steering knuckle. Those are really easy to replace. Jack the car up and remove the wheel. You should be able to see the tie rod clearly. Under the tie rod there is a cotter pin and a castle nut. Remove those and then pop the tie rod out fo the steering knuckle. You will need two wrenches. There is a large nut and some flats on the tie rod. Undo the nut. COUNT the number of turns it takes to remove the tie rod. Replace the tie rod by screwing it on to as many threads as you counted when you removed the old one. Replace everythign else and go get an alignment.
I don't have pics of the exact outer tie rod replacement... I do have pics of an SiR knuckle install - http://home.socal.rr.com/civic4dr4g/...kles/index.htm

You can see the flats on inner tie rod that you need to put a wrench on in this pic http://home.socal.rr.com/civic4dr4g/..._rod_after.JPG

update.

the flats on the inner tie rod are 14 mm, but they just strip to hell when i try to turn the other 22mm outer tie rod nut. i have my passenger side flats completely stripped, and a set of vice grips wont even hold the stipped part or any other part of the inner tie rod for that matter. how the hell am i supposed to get these thigns off? they look like they've never been changed, and the car has 125000 miles. they look really siezed. someone please help! i also tried spraying some liquid wrench stuff on it and it didn't loosen.

Yeah they are easy to do...but definitely go get the car aligned, because sometimes aftermarket rod ends are slightly larger/smaller than the original hondas.

the tie rods will adjust your toe. if you dont measure it good or if it looks off when you put the new one on, get something straight and long and line the wheel up with the rear wheel adjust the with the rod as you need to. if your toe is off it will make your tires wear out and your car will follow the grooves in the road. and make sure you take it in for alignment after you test drive it around to make sure nothing else is broken.
