***tranny removal?***

Default ***tranny removal?***

hey could someone give me some instructions on how to take my tansmission off my engine? does it just unbolt and fall ,do i have to take the starter off the top? or is that mounted to the engine? my motor is a b16a and the tranny is a y1 i already have the axels out i just need to drop the tranny!

use jackstands take out axles and intermediate shaft, take out your intake sys, battery, battery bracket, starter, i take out the radiator to make it easier (you dont have to). take all the 17mm bolts on tranny, make sure you get the ones on the rear bracket. take the tranny mount off and put some support under the engine. put a jack under tranny for support and pull the tranny out(takes a couple of tries), make sure you get the shaft out and it clears the pressure plate before u bring the tranny down. your radius arm might be in the way when you bring down the tranny so get it off before , 2 bolts on the lower control arm. have fun
if changing clutch, you;ll need a 12 point 10mm socket to get press plate off

so what to i have to do to get it off from the engine , will it just fall if i unbolt it?

no it will not fall the guidepins will hold it you have to pull the sucker w force

How about removing the right stabilizer bar? That gives more clearance for the tranny to drop.
