Default alternative to hood pins?

i put my cf hood on, and it moves a little to much for comfort at highway speeds. i really don't want to drill holes in my brand new hood. is there a good alternative to hood pins?

Nope, not if you're already using the stock hood latch.

Figure it out yourself. Look at the underside of your hood, and figure it out.

i personally wouldn't use anything OTHER than hood pins on a CF hood. all you need is for the upper part of the hood to separate from the lower part and wham, broken windshield. i think that is the reason why hood pins are still used....they give you that added safety.

i have seen hood pins placed in a certain postion where they don't look to bad. tbone has the locking kind (which aren't the best to use, but they should do the job). they look nice on his car.

It's a hood, deal with it and put two holes in it. It really is not that bad and they look nice. I have had both locking and regular and both are fine. he locking ones have a bigger diameter so if you mess up a little the lock cover will cover it.

man these guys!!!
yeah you dont have to run hood pins, and you dont have to drill holes in your hood to make sure it does not fly up, there are many options out there, sorry about the lack of know how on this board JUST KIDDING everyone is a 100 times smarter on this board then i am. but since i am from the north shore of hawaii, i am experanced in the art of making sure your hood dose not fly up. you have a few options, one being rope. you can tie your hood down, there are also "bungy cords" you know the rubber strechy cords, then there is tie wire. haha!

sorry to make jokes.

i did not have to work to day so i am in a weird good mood well i have my 2nd CF hood on my car, have had it for abouy 6 months, been pretty fast with it on and it has not flew up yet, and like you have been a little to scared to drill holes. haha! they hold pretty well, they just odnt have that rubber stuff in it, and thats why it moves aroudn a lot on the freeway. but still WE should run hood pins. and hey they look nice "race" too... so why not. haha! if you do it so will i.
sorry to have a point less thred. i would vote for hoodpins/locks. drill it, its ok. as everyone says... its just a hood. hey, it you mess up, just put a sticker over the hole
see ya. sorry

i bought jai's old VIS cf hood and he helped me put it on. thanks jai .

I've been up to 120 and it didnt fly off. just make sure you adjust the hood good so it's nice and tight. And get the rubber supports if you can, that's what makes the hood move around so much...

There is no other way to secure your hood. My only advice is to USE HOOD PINS!

My friend has(d) a 240sx coupe with a silvia conversion and carbon fiber hood. I remember the first thing I ever said to him when I saw his car was "you better put some hoods pins on this thing". About a month later his hood flew up on the road and cracked against his windshield.

ELECTRO-MAGNET

so it turns on while you are driving/the engine is running.
put a magnet or a chunk of metal on the bottom side of the hood and then put the electromagnet mounted in the engine bay.

Good idea that I would like to see.

I'd like to get the hood locks for my Mustang and for my Honda once I get my CF hood, but I hear that they don't lock down like actual PINS do, which can cause problems...

Anyone have a link for those hood pins that are clips that fold down VERY slim line when on the car?

Grade A hoods dont need pins.

they look a lot better too. sides are molded in (not cut). some have carbon fiber that goes around the bend, (VIS). they're a lot heavier though.
