Default JDM v.s. DC

I am going to go with a full 2.5" exhaust. I am wondering if anyone knows the weight difference betweent the JDM 4-1 and the DC 4-1 W/2.5" collector.I think I've read somewhere about the JDM being rather heavy. Are there any other pros/cons to either of these headers? What do you suggest? thanks!

The biggest difference is ground clearance. The DC hangs lower, so it is more prone to denting. The JDM Type-R 4-1 header is heavier (when compared to the DC JDM 4-1), but I'm not sure how much heavier.

I've been looking into this too. I'd say do a search, but we all know that isn't working too well right now. From what I've read here on H-T:

JDM ITR 4-1
Pros: Can be covered with heat shields for stealth look*. Can add FLP skid plate to protect against scraping, denting bottom. Better fit (doesn't hang as low as DC).
Cons: May need to grind down internal welds to improve flow. Made from cheaper, possibly heavier stainless compared to DC. I'm not sure on this, but I think I read that it's made with a lower grade stainless, not 100% on this though.

DC JDM 4-1:
Pros: Cheaper and possibly lighter than JDM ITR 4-1. Nice, bling bling finish on SS model. Offered in both SS and ceramic coated (ceramic version can be found for less than $300). May perform slightly better than JDM ITR due to smoother internal welds and smoother collector transition.
Cons: Hangs lower than JDM ITR. No skidplate currently available.

*Neither one of these have a CARB E.O. #, however the JDM when covered with a heatshield (extra$70-120) may be over looked as it looks stock.

I still haven't decided which one to get for my build up. I'm leaning towards the JDM ITR 4-1 because of the available skidplates and the fact that my wife drives my car often

If your car isnt too terribly low I'd go with the DC.

Is that with the JDM DC 4-1 with 2.5" collector? I have the regular DC 4-1 on my lowered gsr and have yet to bottom out. (knock on wood)
Are the JDM bigger than the regular 4-1?

haha why does everyone assume that if one person bottoms out...that everyone will. Ive seen jdm 4 to 1s scraped up and even dented. I had a dc jdm 4 to 1 on my car for about 6 months, and when i took it off , it was perfect, albeit a couple of small scratches. and this was with some SERIOUS bottoming out.

Does anyone have any performance numbers between the two?

do a search for the great header test. i have the link at home but am not there right now. DC JDM will get more power and is lighter than OEM JDM but i would be too worried about dents on the DC.

once archives are open again do a search on JDM 4-1 owned. and you'll see how my friend's DC JDM was torn open by an unavoidable bolt on the freeway. and his car is riding on H&R sports.

If you not looking for major top end power, go with a jg header w/ a modded 2.5 collector.
