Rust is bad, but if the panhard bar mount out back is good, and the car runs well, I'd get it for a beater. When it dies, you can part it out to the 3g Civic guys and prolly make money....

Hose it down with that rust converter paint, then grey primer on top of that. Fix any leaks or simple problems, and mask off the car. Then buy a couple cases of beer and a few cans of spraypaint and invite your friends over. Proceed to get sloppy drunk with your homies and paint whatever you want on the car.
Viola, the perfect beater that you and your friends will talk about forever.

Any more links or info about 1st gen CRX would be apreciated...i just saw one today (very, very, very rare sighting around here), and i thinking about buying it.
I just want to have all the info i can about the car before making an offer to the owner.

for $150 it's kinda hard to go wrong as long as rust isn't too bad & teh body is straight, + you already have a car so it could be a pimp project
Exactly what dj said, for 150 I'd take it with no engine, parting it out can make you $$ or be a nice project. Definately grab it.
ok heres what's wrong w/ it
-the rear seats are gutted
-messed up windsheild
-bad clutch
-200,000+ miles
-Rust on about 20% of the car
BTW what was that "panhard bar" that i should check out before bying?

who cares about back seats? how bad is teh rust on 20% of the car? can you afford a couple hundred $$ on a d series motor? windshields are relatively chep. all in all it's probably worth it unless the rust has actually eaten holes through the metal.....

I'd pick it up for a cheap price like that. Even if it has rust you can still make it a sweet project car. I bought an '87 HB with a ton of rust and put a nice B20vtec setup in it. Its still running like a champ to this day with the new owner. I just thought of the rust as easy weight reduction

are you talking about that black one that grs rims on it?
***that bar..... if it is rusted how much is it to replace it? where is it so that i can look for it?
i'm gonna give you a different opinion here.
you need to factor in the price of purchasing the car, registration, inspection, insurance, gen. mainteance since you have another car to maintain, etc.
anyway, say you do pick up the car and fix a few things. a few things turns into a "good amount" of things which, let's say, equals $500. if you spend a few hundred on it each month, within a few months you can get to $500. now factor in the purchase price + insurance + reg./inspection.
now what could you get with $650+ ($500 in "fix it" costs + purchase price) for your car?

that's very true- hell i've fixed waaaaaaay more stuff than $500 worth on my 91 hatch since i bought it april 02; but oh well-that's what you get when you buy an older car; i'd still buy it if the rust wasn't so bad.

from what I understand, if that bar rusts out, you can't fix it effectively and that's it for the car

Hope you guys can see the pix in the link. The dudes wants $100 bux.
what do you think?
the rear hatch & glass, rear bumper, and tail lights will NEED TO be replace to make it street legal. Also i have to pay for new licence plates becuse its a wisconsin car and in WI when they sell the car the plates stay with the owner not transfered to the new owner.. that suck.

That totally my 88 dx hb R.I.P, we still talk about drifting and off roading it, dude get it and have a ball i only paid 300 for my hb, and its was worth every cent!
Beaters are better than having a "hooked up" car.
