9500rpm
if i got my head professionally ported, polished, with a 3 angle valve job, titaniam valve springs and retainers with a 13 mm lift, could i turn it up to 9500?? I have a stock bottom end, i want that baby to rev..do you think it would be overkill or what?? Thanks
yeah that makes sence..i can see why it would loose power that high without cams...that would be sweet to hear a motor rev out like that..would type R cams get the job done?? or would i need more dramatic ones like skunk2 stage 2 cams?

I would say that the geometry of the stock componets is good for that RPM, meaning that if you stay normally aspirated, then all you would really need is pistons and rods to go to 9500 RPM. If your planning on boost anyitme in the near future, get sleeves.
the stock b16a will go to 9500, but wont last for very long. i suggest the z10 block girdle at z10engineering.com, it interconnects all the main caps to make the engine stable under high rpms.
The engine could probably handle those rpms for some time but not nearly long enough, at least for my purposes. The main thing I love about Honda motors is that I can redline them as often as I want without thinking twice. If you try and get too many revs out of them, be aware that they will not hold up for a ludicrously long time like a factory Honda motor under factory redline.
Just think about the differences in the bottom end of a b16a and b16b:
Fully balanced crank, thinner journals, lighter/ longer/stronger rods, coated pistons, block girdle, God knows what else....all for 400 or 500 rpms more.

Revving to 9500rpm is silly IMO. Very few streetable cams would even make power that high without ITBs, so what's the point?
RPM - Ruins People's Motors
RPM - Ruins People's Motors
as said by Larry, still reigns true, always will, until cars run on fuel cells and piston motors are gone.
I've heard that saying long before any of this internet and/or ENDYN hype.
yes the b16 bblock will rev t0 9500rpms but don't do it everday!
Cams like Jun3 or skunk2 stageII will make power up to about 9200. not to many cams will make that much hp after 9000rpms. If your going FI GSR cams makes wonders......makes power till about 10,000rpms.
with the valvetrain upgrade you can rev the crap out of the motor but it's noting going to help you any.
