If the car has been left sitting for a while (more than 3-4 hours), it will start after a few cranks. But if I stop somewhere (drop off movies) and try to restart. sometimes I can't get it restarted! I have to sit and wait about an hour to restart.

I noticed that the car is running a little richer (14.2 when crusing on the highway) and about a week about, it was around 14.6 or 14.7.

Any idea what could be causing this? Is my ignitor going out? Bad plugs?

honda warm-start problem.

hold the gas pedal to the ground when you start it.

if that dosent work, could be the main relay

 

I do notice that it helps if I hold the gas pedal about 1/3 way down.

If the main relay is broken, it wouldn't start at all, right?

 

it depends on how bad the main relay is broken. it might start sometimes or not start at all. but usually it wont start at all if the main relay is broken. i had the same problem on my rex (a few years back) try a new starter. get one with a lifetime warranty tho.

The old main realy problem. I took mine out cleaned the contact on it, and soldered the woven cables that connect the arms to the coils.

This seems to make them work like new again.

Don't trust it though.
It might just make a worse problem on the interstate.

I can give you advice on how to do this if you want it.

Since search is broken still, can you fill me in on how to check if the main relay is broken or not?

I don't want to rig it so it works, I want to know how to tell if it is broken, and if it is, I'll spend the money and buy a new one.

My starter is fine, the motor cranks, but it just won't fire.
