a local shop around my way gave me car care one credit card....so im looking to use it..a.s.a.p...i asked the owner how much for the kyb agx's all around and new shock/strut tower hardware...mines are worn ...the rubber bushings that go up top of the shock/strut are fraying and lil rubber pieces all over my strut towers...well he says 898.00 for everything plus install....sounds steep to me..but i have no one to help me do them myself so i think i have no other choice...besides i need it done in a day and doing them myself i doubt that will happen as this is my only car.so i cant be with out her.....whats your opinions...any way i can save a few bucks ?

 

that does sound steep, it would be better if you could break down how much was labor and how much was parts.

i got my agx and GC for 600 shipped. but the extra hardware is expensive from the dealer that could be it too. look around and get teh agx and some polyurothane inserts for the strut tops. that should be alot cheaper.

 

im on that now i spoke to the owner again and hes about to call me back with the breakdown...but apparently he was assuming i needed the entire shock/strut tower...i just need the inserts(bushings,washers,collar)...i"ll write it up son as he holla"s back....

 

buy your own agx's and then get them to put them on.

 

That's way too high. You can get those shocks for $340 shipped from shox.com and the other parts you need shouldn't be very expensive from a dealer. If you read up on it you can do the install yourself in a day. I did mine with one friend in a few hours.

 

i would but im using a credit card thats only honored buy certain care car groups..and i cant use it to buy online etc...believe i would have gon that route if possible...thanks...

 

by the way ....im experimenting with my set up also....stock itr springs with a inch cut off to lower a lil more...if it doesnt feel good then i"ll just throw some better springs next month...

why would you cut the spring?? cutting springs is bad mmmkay. it can lead to really really crappy ride/handling and blown shocks. then your gonna end up maxing out that card they gave you buying the parts they charge an arm and a leg for.

 

what's teh breakdown & time estimate?

 

Someone I know got a $900 quote on AGX from pep boys. I was like you can get them for less than $400 online!!!

750 is bogus, he qouted you 900 before and now dropped in that much. This person your workin with is just trying to rip you, try going somewhere else or installin ur self

 

well he dropped it cause he thought i wanted the entire shock/strut tower..i only need the bushings...so he recalculated that....and as far as going somewhere else i would but thats the only shop around me that honers the car care one card...and as far as me doing it myself i would try ..but i need more tools than what i have and someone with experience to help to get it done quick as possible...as far as the its spings being cut an inch...how much of a difference will that make...also i dont have the cash available to pay cash so this car care one card is handy right now and my current stock shocks had it....

that sounds steep...get a breakdown on the prices. i bought my agx brand new for 295 plus tax. installation was only 100 for the agx and H&R springs.

 

yo i agree with the east coast H-Ters helpin each other out thing...im about to buy coilovers and shocks within the next few weeks...if u still have them i say we set up an install day...and anyone that needs something installed could get together and help each other out...i always thought that we should do this like 1 a month or something...teg-your-it let me know when/if your gonna get this done yourself, cause ill come up and watch and maybe have mine by that time...also if u want my friend can definately do it...way less than 300, give him like 75 bucks or so and hell prolly spend the day helpin you out...let me know
