CRX wieght distribution
OK so i am driving around last night and spin out hard core on a weak sause turn... what can I do to even out the wieght distribution of my car? I plan on moving the battery to the back, 2 10" subs, amp(s) but what else... I plan on doing a B18C swap next spring so I am goin to need more than that... I am not so woried about overall weight cause this is just for a street car so I just want to even it out a bit. Any suggestions? (aside from a box of bricks in the back...)
i would think that would be plenty including the system and stuff..what im trying to figure out is how you spin a front wheel drive car out?? your air pressures good and eveything?
well, i was breaking into a turn, bad idea but it was better than hitting a car... the back was so light it didnt stay planted... see on the CRX the center of gravity is way up front... anything behind the center of gravity just whips around... putting more wieght in the back will bring the center of gravity back towards the middle of the car...
it not going to help you. The weight is still transferred to the front when under braking, which will lift the rear, and break traction.
Get some seat time in an autocross and learn how to better control your vehicle.

that is what I would like to do... I think I drive pretty well for being an amiture and all but I would love to goto Autocross lessons or something...

That almost happened to me too, but i think you gotta counter it by gassing it a little through the turn. Ever since i learned that i havent had any close calls (knock on wood). I usually slow down before the turn, then gas it through so the weight isnt all being pushed to the front. My car's dropped 3.25 inches all around, and i got cheap BOMz front n rear upper strut bars off ebay... I think thats wat saved my life
Might not be the right technique but it works for me

Almost any car will spin if you lift and/or brake when turning at the limit. Definitely try some autocrossing to get a feel for the dynamics of the vehicle. Until then, seperate steering and brake controls
i dont usually brake into a turn... I tend to brake prior to the turn and accelorate through the turn... I was trying to see how fast I could take the turn with no brakes but there was a car comming and I didnt want to hit him So I had to brake all of a sudden and spun... Still want to take Autox lessons though...

It'll be scary at first since your natural instincts tell you to brake but once you get over that its fun.
how would taking off the rear sway help him to not slide? just curious....
Also, the heavier end tends to slide as well, so putting weight in the back will actually make it slide more.

lift throttle oversteer is scary on a car with such short wheel base as a CRX. the short distance makes for a VERY twitchy car. self control and throttle modulation is your friend.
