Default Setting B16a Ignition Timing in a CRX

I need to set the ECU to 'diag mode' so I can set the timing. Anyone one been able to 'jump' pins somewhere to do this?

if it's an 88, the plug you need to jump is over near the windshield washer resivoir and coolant overflow. I think it has a yellow rubber cover. Just short those wires out.

When I short the wires, I don't see a change in the idle. I'm assuming the idle should go down to ~750 rpms and a check engine light should come on right? Does the wiring for this connector stay 'enabled' when you swap in a B16 engine into a CRX Si?
