I got real lucky. I was looking for an injector resistor box when I stumbled across a wrecked 92 GSR. It was a small junk yard here in Upstate NY, mostly domestics. I ended up getting the B17A1 for $267.50, complete swap. I also paid $150 for the GSR rear disk brake conversion along with the front brakes.

to me doing a b-series swap correctly means using a Z10 or Jim Fab unit, that adds $400-$500 or so right there.

well thank you for gracing us with your opinion, however the z10 cross member isnot necessary for a b16a swap so it really has nothing to do with question at hand

i spent about 2300 doing the labor myself, thats for just the swap no mods.

For my 1st swap I paid $2500 installed at Hasport in phoenix....that was way back in the day....1998-1999 I think.....I knew the owners pretty well so I got a decent price back then....

edit: it was a 90 civic dx hb

Here is what I bought for my swap, broken down. I had a small hook-up at the dealer. Check it out. Ryan

are ya'll not doing any type of rebuild when swapping? judging by the prices it seems that ya'll maybe fixing a little & then just dropping it in. i wouldn't feel comfortable spending 12-1500 on a motor & then just dropping it in, especially since these older b16's have just been sitting around for years. that's why i'm just rebuilding my a6. I sat down & thought about it & i'd have to drop like 3500 before i felt at least somewhat comfortable.....just my $.02

I agree, I spent a lot of money on rebuild parts, correct cables, clutch, flywheel, exc... I feel much better about it now, and it should run for a long time. Ryan

Any price will be too much for the performance youll get with a b16. J/K...i dont know how much you should spend for a b16...but i spent around $2600 for my b18 swap and they are very similar in price. I got the engine for $700 from a guy in Alabama so if i was to buy it from an online source you caould add another $300-$500 to that. I did do alot of unnecessary stuff just to make sure that it was in good running order before i put i into my car.

i bought my motor tranni for a grand. and then it sat forever cause i couldnt save money for mounts and all that. then my buddy with a 90 b16a hatch broke a motor mount and was tired of his car and sold it to me for a grand. everything. i sent the mount back to hasport shipping was like $23 next day. so then i pulled out the b16a and everything else and put the si motor from my crx into the hatch and sold it for $1500 and used all the parts for my swap. so basically i paid about 500 bucks for my complete swap. and had a spare b16a with tranni.
