********10 sec ALL MOTOR CRX ******* (56k please be careful)
thought i'd post these pictures of a friends setup. its a 2.2 liter crvtec running 15.5:1 compression. thats about all i'm going to disclose...as everything else is kinda unique to his setup...should make between 250-300whp after tuning. and he went 11.94 with a 500 dollar ls/vtec so i'm sure 10's are within reason...his name is cory thompson for those who are familiar with drag racing...and a few years ago he finished in the top 10 in pts...on the east coast.
(the header and intake manifold were made by cory's father, whose name is barry thompson. he owns http://www.hrmfab.com)
enjoy the pictures.

he actually went 11.94 at englishtown...and blew his motor later that day.
not sure if he'll make it up there in time this year...although we'll see.

Yea I don't know why, but I LIKE 'EM. When he gets tired of the car, I WANT TO BUY IT. Rolling chassis, donut wheels. Less drivetrain! I want it. I want it! Have you hugged your CRX today?

although...it really comes down to how much money you want to spend.
but i do understand what yuo're saying...as there are a few guys in this area that are in the 10's...including mike yonkey (turbo b18c, 550hp, 10.3@145), collin (500+hp, 10.1@14X.XX), neal sutton (11.95, all motor daily driven crx) and they are relatively competitive with one another...however they basically know each others setups...
while the cage is hard to see, one does exist and it meets the safety standards set for vehicles in the 10's.
Hell, my car isn't even in the 10s, and it has a full cage.

well...i'm not really disclosing any information about the motor itself...valvetrain, cams, pistons...rods...crank etc are all custom and unique to his setup...

Nice
I like the nifty front mounts to the traction bar. He's going to need them with those mounts
I wish I had the guts to cut up my crx and build a full race car.

riceboy...try to repost that picture...i'm interested to see what you're referring to.
i'm not convinced cory's intake manifold or exhaust manifold is what will make the best power...as they are both a new design and haven't been used on this setup before. i'm always one to go with intake manifolds and headers that have been developed by companies like JG and Jun. and, while cory's dad is extremely talented (www.hrmfab.com) he doesn't have the time to test each piece he makes on a dyno...
although, his dad builds 8-10 second cars yearly and has been doing so for over 35 years...its just that the v8's he's accustomed to are very different from our 4 cylinder small displacement powerplants.
as is always the case, dyno numbers and 1/4 mile times will put an end to all speculation.
