Very STRANGE SOUND coming from my parked teg...
I have noticed this for about the past year on 3 different integra's. I know that all the times I remember this sound occuring the car was parked, on an incline, nose up, using the E-Brake as the only way of holding the car in place.
This sound sounds like a motor or something that goes on for about 2 - 3 seconds, in about a roughly 5-15 minute cycle.
I think I once tried troubleshooting it on the spot and put it in gear and took it off of the e-brake, but that did not resolve the problem.
If anyone knows what this sound is and can put my worries to rest, please do so.
Thanks,
D

My car does that once in a while too. It sounds like a little motorized whistle or something...hard to explain but I know what you're talking about. My friends '00 si does it too. I would like to know what this is also..
Yea, kind of like "ERrrng". I think it has something to do the thermostat in the climate control system or something. I really don't know though......
I think it is a normal part of the car's operation, so I wouldn't worry about it.
i just wnat to find out what it is...and be able to explain myself when a supra owner asks me why my pos honda is making funny sounds...
i know the sound....
it goes
"EEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee........."
sounds like a high pitched buzzing noise...
i heard somewhere that it's just the E brake getting a grip...
*shrugs*

Its the sound of the suspention settling remember all the weight is going to the back of the car and the front is going up and the sound of the brakes holding the car in place.

I made a thread about this illusive sound a looooooooong time ago.
I describe it as a sound similar to that of a whale in the ocean... very odd to hear it coming from my engine bay.

I'll admit it's annoying, but PainfulTeg is right, it's just the abs pump. My friend's Teg does it too. From what I've seen tho, i think it's just on random cars. Mine doesn't do it and I know a lot of other Teg's that don't either. I don't know why the '00 SI would do it tho, non-abs and all....
if its park why would the ABS make noises. last time i heard its the fuel pump or something purging out some pressure or something like that.

I know the sound of the abs system. You hear that after you turn on your ignition and start off..like couple seconds after you start going forward....The motorized whining noise I'm talking about comes from the middle/or rear of the car when it's parked and there is no power source what so ever. My gsr and my friend's si both make the exact same noise...I also think it has something to do with fuel pump/line...but still don't know for sure.
ok.. i have read this post entirely now.. and i think that a bunch of u guys are referring to different sounds entirely hahah....
Ok with that said... for the older g3 tegs... u may experience a whir noise of a pump.. that is ur ABS pump pressurizing.. and it should do this at startup of the car.. and may also make several attempts during the regular operation of ur car.
Another soudn that i've herd in my car is the suspension or ebrake creaking noise cuz its parked on a hill with the ebrake up.. but i attribute that to the ebrake.
As for any other possible sources, i'm **** out of ideas. haha.. hth.

I have heard that buzzing noise on my civic, but the abs noise on my teg is a different sound.

the sound you are all hearing is the abs system building up pressure......it's normal....
If you look at what I posted, I specifically mentioned that this is when I take the keys out of the car and am outside the car. I have hear it while inside also.
I'd like to attribute this to the E-Brake, but this lasts for a while, not for the first 30 minutes or for even the first hour. I have left my car for 3 hours and after I come back and am standing next to my car talking, I hear the sound.
This definetly sounds like a motorized sound, like a whirring of somesort; nothing a creek on the rotor with the brake pads or the suspension going up and down.
I dont understand where it comes from since the ignition is off and basically all systems of the car are down when the ignition is off.
