Busted the stock ITR diff
Well, it would appear that I ran on a busted diff for at least part of last year. I thought it was the inner CV. Oops. Guess catching air at 115 mph does make a difference.
Car sure feels mighty good this year though!

Warren,
What were the symptoms? Late last season I started to think I had done the same but I'm really hoping that's not the case due to limited funds this year
Thanks

Started out with a very slight click (which sounds like a busted inner CV) when turning sharply at low speeds, like in the paddock. Now? Now it locks up in reverse, and has problem in all 5 forward gears

I would have thought the CV too based on what you've described. I'm wondering if perhaps my problem is bushings related, maybe the front lca's. If I remember correctly, I would get some rattling/slight clunking at the exit of a hairpin under hard power. Hopefully I'll get time this weekend to get under the car and take a look at the situation.

Well, I just got back from a night out w/ Steve. He and Gordon said that the tapered roller bearings were shot, which was allowing the diff to move inside the tranny. This probably explains the crazy hopping that I've had since I've owned this car. They also said that it's been worked on before. No one ever told me that
Oh the pleasures of a used car. Anyhow, the roller bearings are shot. Sheared the ring gear on the final drive, and the countershaft is all screwed. Unsure about the diff right now. If it's okay, I'm still getting off cheaper than if the diff was toast.

I had an ITR diff in my old Integra and have an OPM diff in my new Civic.
There is no comparison. The OPM diff is much more aggressive.
Sometimes I even wondered if the ITR diff was working. The OPM diff leaves no doubt that its working. It'll yank the steering wheel in a 80hp ITC car.
Good stuff

I kinda dig how it opens the steering wheel up for you post-apex. I drove a gear type and it took me a second to figure out what was so different.

you need to get your money back then....a LSD should not, and does not operate in that fashion. Welded spider gears / phantom slip,... yup thats how they function (if at all). I could go on...but its futile at best im sure. The website tells me all I needed to know about the unit, and confirmed my prior thoughts on it. Ill keep wasting my money on another stock Honda LSD...or a quaife if I feel the urge.

From my experience, the stock ITR LSD will definately introduce some torque steer.
For example, when making a right hand turn from a stop, and accellerating hard, the car will want to continue to pull to the right, instead of straightening itself out.

Whatever.
My Integra had a tendency to spin the inside tire and push accelerating off a corner. My Civic "tucks in" tighter under throttle.
If that's not how an LSD is supposed to work... Oh well, I guess I
busted **** that doesn't work right.
