88 Si tranny questions

Default 88 Si tranny questions

I got a couple of questions. Will my 4sp clutch fit with the Si tranny (same year)? Also...will I be able to use my STD axels with the Si tranny? Thanks alot.

clutch doesn't fit. splines don't line up.

you have a non 88 clutch then. you didnt specify that. i thought your car was an 88 and you were throwing an 88 trans on it

thats exactly what I specified. hmmm....i'm starting to wonder about this. my 4spds clutch didn't fit...and my friend had an old clutch from his 90 Si...neither fit.

Edit: My car is an 88 but I'm starting to wonder about the tranny...

it is, but i'm thinking the 88si and the 88std clutches are different.

let me rephrase-88 is the only odd year.89 and up you can use 89-91 tranny or clutch -dont matter.88 must use 88 tranny with 88 clutch.are you installing it right?

yeah, i don't think the STD clutch has the same splines.

SI trannies no matter the year always have 1 more spline than there horribly geared counterparts (DX,STD). The clutch disc will not fit.

89-90 anything will fit 89-90 anything

thanks for all of your help guys. i found out that the tranny is actually a 90-91. The guy that sold it to me told me it was an 88!
