For same weekend (6/21-22) at Fed Ex Field. Kudos and props to WDC Region.

Being that Fed Ex is my local site, I am going to issue some advice. I would reserve an hotel between DC and Baltimore. Not right near the event site. This is not a very secure area. This is not that far to travel. Also on the same thought process, you will not want to leave anything at the event site overnight as you can at most other National event locations. In fact, I am not even sure you will be premitted to leave anything overnight. Expect to do some up hill walking. The majority of the lot is on a decent slope (assuming they use the same lot that we run on which I am sure they will).

I am sure I will think of other stuff later. Hope to see you all there.

Eric

As somebody who stumbled across the general "neighborhood" looking for gas off the DC Beltway on my way home from Petersburg last year, I'll add that I've never been in an area that looked so OK, but gave off as many bad vibes. And I'm someone who has spent mucho time in da Bronx, Brooklyn, and similarly urban parts of Jersey.

Are there any decent places to stay out on Route 50, heading towards Annapolis? That may be a little closer than heading up towards Baltimore.

Rock ON! Finally, an event I can go to that doesn't require a hotel and a 8+ hour drive! Way to go WDCR! How did they get past the 60 day cancellation stuff?

The first national event for me since the Evansville tours (mom lived 20 minutes away) where I don't have to get a hotel room!

You are probably better off looking at some of the hotels off 295 or I-95. I have to do some searching for where hotels are.

As for off rte. 50, I would look for a place by Bowie. That is probably not a bad area. Anywhere between Bowie and Annapolis is fine.

I've been there once last year. Surface is pretty good tho its not concrete. It has decent grip. Lots of off camber stuff (its on the side of a hill). They setup a good 60 second (in a DSP car) course. They had room to set up some excellent variety in the course. Hell the course I drove last year in DC was better then the Rome Tour!

100% Asphalt. Pretty good condition, no major surface transitions that I recall. But lots of camber changes due to the hill. I'm not sure who DC will have layout the course, but there are a few locals who are EXCELLENT at course design.

Typical courses are about 60 seconds.

First portion of course is typically uphill - if you planned to install a header or perform some dyno testing, I suggest getting it done before the FedEx event. My nearly stock RX-7 wheezed like an 80 year old with emphezyma at the start of a few courses.

I can second that... last time I was there I remember a couple of the shifter Karts were REAL slow on the launch (I could have launched faster in tennis shoes). A good strong launch was definitly a good thing. Torque! Torque! Torque! Torque!

On a completly different note :
Is there any reason to be worried about the softer sprung cars with R tires on all that off camber stuff? just curious.... not that I'll have that problem personally even tho my car is pretty softly sprung.

They were not 125 shifters. I don't think they were shifters at all.

No more than usual - it tends to be the quick transitions (slalom) that upset cars. The camber changes at FedEx are not usually abrupt (you'd have to really be mean and design the course that way).

Yeah, I couldn't remember but I felt really bad for them watching them launch... Tho coming down the hill they were moving pretty good!

I suspected as much but I just figured I'd voice my concern for my fellow drivers! (cause I'm SUCH a humanitarian! ).

As I understand it, Lee Piccone was asked to design the courses. That means they will be good.

I'll still be doing both that weekend. HPDE followed by a National Tour.

What time does a FATT usually wrap up?
