I have a 4th gen lude. I just did a motor swap with another h23. Only problem is that i ordered a jdm motor and had to transfer everything from my blown motor. Its obd2, and i think i have everything grounded correctly and plugs in the right places. I have enough fuel, but not producing a spark. My external coil is not sparking consistently enough to start the car. I bought a new one and still no dice. I changed out the icm in the distributor and still no dice. I tryed the distributor and external coil on another obd2 lude, and it started right up. The only other thing me and my buds could think of is that the timing could be off, but we are pretty sure we have it perfect. We are only a notch or 2 at the most. The car should still turn over. Any ideas on what the problem could be would be most grateful. THanks.

 

it started up or it didnt start up?

if your not getting spark then your problem is spark. dont worry about anything else untill you know your getting spark. the common problem on swapped motors is the timing though.
you do need spark, fuel and compression to start a motor. start with spark then move to the next ok?

 

it didn't start up. i have fuel. i do need to do a compression test.

 

work with your spark first.

 

check your setup...what about your Injector resistors...i think OBD2 cars went to a saturated injector, where as OBD1 uses peak and hold...w/ resistor...i think, just an idea

 

yes check your injector resistor pack make sure it is all hooked up, if that is not plugged in the fuel injectors will not inject the fuel into the engine. you still get pressure but no fuel passes the injector.

 

are you guys talking about the black connector behind behind the distributor? Even if i wasn't getting fuel, i still am not getting a spark to the external coil. thanks for everybod's input.
