Default Progress Vs. Tein coilovers

I'm interested in any opinions regarding Progress or Tein SS coilovers. My car is a 92 GSR which is currently lowered with an old set of VIS racing coilovers on Tokico Illuminas. My current shock setup is showing signs of damage on a few sides and need to be replaced because of oil leekage. I looking for a complete setup this time that can ride lowered comfortably and still provide a good setup for autocrossing on weekends. I'm also looking for any good deals on either kits and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Progress coil-overs, from waht i've read, require dissasembly of the shock to change damping. What a pain.

There was a thread a couple of weeks back that discussed the advantages of using "all-in-one-box" coilovers, like Tein and JIC, as opposed to the common Koni/GC setup.

I cant seem to find it now, so I'm assuming its locked in the "unsearchable" archives.

But I would recommend checking that thread out when it becomes available, especially if you wanna shell out for "full coilovers."

It actually influenced me enough to abandon the idea of going Koni/GC and going all-in-one-box.

I'm considering getting the Tein Type FLEX when they become available in the states for the Preludes. According to the guy I spoke with at Tein, they have an adjustable length shock as opposed to simply adjusting the height with a sleeve.

If I remember correctly this would serve the correct solution to travel issues with lowered cars. Would anyone with more knowledge about this type of thing like to elaborate on this more for me? I'd really llike to know if they are worth the money over the SS.

Sorry to jack your thread. I just didnt wanna start another Coilover thread in RR/AutoX.

Maybe look at the HA's. They are no longer sold through the US but you can still find sets around. They are basicly the exact same things except it has helper springs and also the spring rates are a little more aggressive. The SS is a watered down version of the HA's. I found a basicly new set that had been used for 5k miles for 750. You can find them normally for 800 and about 950 for a new set (in fast n ferrious voice) "overnight from JA-Pan " What alot of people do is buy the ITR coilovers then run the ITR rear Lower Control arms. However, this is with EG's DC's and del sol (also an EG). It could be a little diffrent for the 92 gsr.
