Would you buy a motor that's been sitting 8 years for your race car...
but has less than 5,000 original miles on it? I'm thinking that this '95 B18B1 engine with 4,637 miles might be a good deal to use for the car while I build up the original B18A1 motor. Anything else besides the cylinder wall and ring condition I should be concerned about? I dunno, but this deal might be too good to be true...
sure would, but it might need a hell of a lot of cleaning / honing and some new parts...
but it has so few original miles it might be in excellent condition otherwise.

Depends on how well the engine was stored and where it was stored?? Was the engine drained of all fluids and sealed off?? I'd also be concerened with all the rubber gaskets and fitting being dryed out and cracking. And are you sure those pics are the pics of the motor you'll be buying?? I'd ask for a "proof of life" type picture to be sure that's what your getting.

Sure would. My racecar engine is a junkyeard motor of unknown origins.
I doubt this motor has been run for 4,637miles...where is the carbon on the exhaust ports...is this a rebuilt motor?
Also most of the b16s/zc motors that people do swaps with on this board are 8,9 or 10 yrs old and a are bought up like crazy...so ,many people do it. Do they always turn out good ,no but most of the time they run great.
when you buy a used motor its always a good idea to bring along a compression tester and see if the dude will let you do a comp test...just slap on a tranny and starter.
