hey guys, i have a set of 3pc Racing Hart C2's.. anyone know of any SAFE rim cleaning products out there? also, are there products out there that i can put on my 3pc racing hart c2's to keep them protected, like how wax protects paint?

Im asking this because im afraid to use aftermarket rim cleaners and protectants because my friend used Mequir's Hot wheel cleaner on his volk GT-N's... about an hour after using them, he noticed that the clear coat protectent on the polished rim started cracking and peeling off.

 

If its clear coated then use soap and water. Same as you use on the clearcoat on your fenders and door.

 

 

if you have really caked on brake dust....mothers (as well as other companies) make cleaners that are clearcoat/painted rim safe. i've used the clearcoat safe mothers on my stock rims (which are clearcoated).....no ill effects. follow the directions carefully though.....the product is only supposed to sit on the rim for no more than around 2-3 minutes.....much longer than that and the acid that eats the brake dust can eat the coating/paint.

what i do:

-spray cleaner on...start brushing with rim brush right away.
-as soon as it's all brushed clean, i hose it down thoroughly

i have done this MANY times and have had not a single bad effect on the rims (unless you think shiny clean rims are bad )

I had a set Racing Hart C2 Evos - i used to use PS21 wheel cleaner and have had no problems, i have also used Meguirs Hot wheels cleaner...

I think a definate rule of thumb when using ANY wheel cleaner is to thoroughly wet the wheel first - make sure it is not hot and then spray on - clean - and spray off - as quickly as possible.

This way nothing sits on the wheel for very long, and it will still have a nice brilliant shine!
