ATL auto-xers....question about format
Ok Atlanta folks...I am thinking about autocrossing with you guys once or twice this year and had some questions.
1) It says out of region people and novices can run morning or afternoon...is this a big deal or easily done?
2) How is parking for tow vehicles?
3) Pre-registration?
4) Social scene? does everybody get together the night before and drink, or hang out at the event, or is it a "run and go home" type of group?
Thanks!

Out of towners can run either, but if you don't run with your group you dont really know how well you did.
Tow vehicles depends on the lot. One of the lots has plenty of space (Gold I think), One not so much (Blue?).
Pre-registration should be available on the website. But honestly I've been in the system so long I'm not positive how it works these days.
Our events are pretty big, around 200ish is not atypical. By the time we're done on Sunday evenings everyone pretty much has to head back to the ranch. Not much hanging out is done AT the event because with the format, you are either running or working when you are there. But some of us could be forced to have a few beers with you on Saturday night if you insisted

since the rest of our events this year(besides the six flags event) and it usually has plenty of room for trailers.
the other questions i really can't answer since i'm not used to those procedures.
and for question 4, i'm using comming from over an hour away and have lots of stuff to do so i usually just show up, run, and then leave.

If it is a Turner Feild lot event then there should be plenty of parking for a tow vehicle in the event lot itself or in the lot adjacent.
Although it would be nice to hang out a bit a have a beer with the guys (and girls) that come out, most of us are pretty tired by the end of the afternoon. Good group of people though. They'd have to be laid back to put up with my noobie-*** asking them questions all the time.

You can preregister, but if you haven't actually run with the region, you still have to stand in the "new information" line. There is one that is for folks "already in system", though that moves every bit as slow. Count on showing up at least an hour early (~7:30am) so that you can get your tires changed, car prepped, etc. and then go stand in line before it opens. Otherwise, you will be standing in line for about 45 minutes, and will miss out on course walks while you are still changing tires/checking air pressures.
Hope that helps.
