LSD trans owners!
Well I am planning on getting a b18c1 within the next month or two and I was wondering if it is worth paying the extra $$ for a jdm trans with LSD, or should I just get a normal trans and buy a Kaaz or Quaif LSD to put into it? I guess the question is, which would be better stock LSD or aftermarket LSD in the long run?
Thanks!

Depends on your goals and how much you can get the JDM ITR tranny for.
Boosted or N/A??
Auto-X or Drag Strip???
Road Course or just enjoyable street car??
Price of the Kazz vs the ITR tranny????

Well at this point I'm not too sure on if it's going to be NA or FI, if NA probably around 200-210whp and if FI around 250-300whp. The car will be a daily driver that will see it's share of Drag and Road Course racing. I checked the Kaaz website and the LSD is about $950 but I can't really find how much the JDM trans will cost. JDMhondaparts website only lists the lsd as an option and doesn't mention price. Hope that helps out.
that's too much money for a kaaz lsd. get a quaif if you want to spend that kind of cash. i am not sure how good the stock ones are compared to the quaif but remember if you get an aftermarket one you will be paying for the lsd itself and then for install. or you can pay extra for a swap with the optional lsd.<- that's what i would do. imo its the quick and easy option
Yeah I got the price right of the Kaaz website so I figured it would be high. I just want to get people's opinions on different LSD's so I can figure out what the heck I'm going to do since I don't really know too much about them.

I like Kazz LSD's. They do really good with RWD cars but if broken in right they are great. I can get one for about 750 still I think.
Stock LSd sounds like it will be fine for what you want to do.

The OEM ones usually run in the ballpark of $300 installed, which is a great price for what you are getting. The only reason that you wouldnt want to get an OEM one would be if you are going to get a kaaz or quaife later.
*EDIT: I might be wrong about this, but think LSDs could only be found on ITR trannies, not c1s. USDM that is.

my vote is for regular tranny and quaife, you can get a quaife for $795 shipped to your door and the thing will NEVER break. Jotech still has thier quife in since the car has been run.
Both the kaaz uses clutches in thier LSD's so they will wear out over time.
I have the quaife in my B18B turbo EK and love it, no one wheel wonder crap for me.

Sorry but the OEM LSDs are helical and don't use clutches, therefore they don't wear out. I have a JDM tranny with the OEM LSD and it's doing great so far, sure a Qaife would be nice, but I got a got deal on trading my tranny for this one. Unless you are pushing some serious hp I think you'll be happy with the OEM type. My car launches alot harder and more consistantly with the LSD. The wheels still spin but I'm acuatlly accelerating instead of just roasting the tires and not moving.
i bought the factory LSD w/ my B18C. i haven't got to auto-x it w/ the new engine yet, so i have no idea what's it's like.
i know a guy that has a Quaif on is '00 Si and he says that it will actually pull you into the inside of the turn. almost like you're getting "sucked in".
i haven't got to drive his car, so i can only tell you what he thinks of it.

ITR LSD OWNS! I would just buy the one with the JDM tranny. that is what im doing with my B16
Quaff and those guys want too much $ for thiers and unless you are putting more then 250hp you wont need it

whats the break-in procedure for a quaife LSD? i think i read somewhere about driving in figure 8's for hours. i dont possibly know where you could do that in public. maybe trick it and put the car on jackstands and do it in your driveway! haha

But what if someone was to get a JDM ITR tranny and then boost their motor and there is more then 250 - 300 HP?? Will the stock LSD break or will it just not work correctly?
