sheet metal
Look under the yellowpages under steel. There are steel warehouses everywhere. You just walk in, tell them what you want and they give it to you. Most of them will even cut everything to your specs.
Ask to take a look at the different gauges of sheet that they have. Pick what you want to work with yourself.
Either that, or Home Depot has some small sheets in the little steel section of there's. Mine had some small sheets of 22 gauge when I last looked.

I work in sheet metal fabrication here in northern virginia. Usually metal comes in 4foot by 10foot or 4foot by 8 foot sheets. Most places will cut it down, some places will charge you for the cut... fenders might be 20 gauge... i know its not 16 or 18, because I use that stuff 90% of my day. If you tell my what guage and size you need i can see how much it should cost you.
i want about 7, 4 by 10 foot sheets, 20 gauge. also if i would give them templates made from posterboard will they cut them out with clean edges? if you could tell me about how much that costs, it would be alot of help, thanx.

You are looking at $45 a sheet (thats their cost, not what they will charge you)... look for it to run about 60 a sheet plus labor. If you do it offically with a shop you will have expensive labor ($30+ per hour)... if you do it under the table with one of the guys you are looking at $100 (for a sheet metal mechanic). The clean edges come from the type of equipment they use to cut with. Plasma isnt that good for a clean cut but its fast, obviously with tin snips it can be clean but i doubt they'll do that... If they have elextric snips it will be done clean and fast... but its all about the shop you use and where you live. you are seriously looking at $30 (i'm not sure where you are located, but here in NOVA we charge $65 for a mechanic to do the work) or more an hour for labor from a shop, and they'll stick it to you (at least an hour per sheet). shop around, see if one of the guys will swing an under the table deal with you. you can cut your labor in half at least. but its all up to you.
