Default B series tranny ? in an EF

I have a B17A1 in swapping into my 1990 hatch. On the tranny, where the speedomoter cable goes, there are two lines. They look like oil lines or something. Where do these hook up to and what are they?

take a ~5" hose, bend it into a U-shape and fit it over both of the holes on your speedo housing. those lines are originally there to be hooked up to power steering lines if i remember correctly, but you definitely do NOT have to hook them up.

You're correct on the lines, but I've heard that you're supposed to use your old speedometer gear...? I could be wrong though.

Thanks! I'm about ready to drop it into my car. I just got to finish this wireing nightmare of ODB0-ODB1 now.

my old JDM S1 and GSR YS1 trans speedo gears looked identical to me but i swapped mine out because of my Kaaz even if you were supposed to change them out (to maybe maintain the correct gearing for your speedo?) the difference is barely noticeable.

They are oil lines related to the power steering in the orginal car and are not needed. The power steering was variable assist based on the speed of the car. As the car sped up, the oil pressure would build and lessen the assist from the power steering.

I was told similar, when I asked they said to get rubber caps from the hardware store, I'm sure both methods would work the same.
