Default Accord Engine Swap

I want to swap an Accord EX engine into my 94 LX. But I don't have the EX ecu. Can I use my stock ECU? How can I get V-Tec to activate? Could I find an EX ecu at a Honda dealership? Or would a VAFC Vtec controller be enough? Would I need a laptop or that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get a VTEC ECU... I'm sure that you'll be able to find one if you ask around... Dealership = $$$$$ A VAFC will not do anything for ya... You need to run it inline with a VTEC ECU... You could also get away with an rpm activated switch tho I would not recommend it... A VTEC ECU is programmed with low/high cam timing/fuel maps which affect how the motor runs... This is just to say that your EX motor will make less power running an LX ECU with a rpm activated switch... What year is your car??? Good Luck

okay, lets say you have a non-vtec motor and you want to swap in a vtec motor. you have to have a vtec ECU to make vtec work. VAFC only tunes your fuel and lets you set your vtec engagement and disengagement points. you can still use a VAFC without vtec, the only difference is that you would only be setting the fuel and when hooking it up, you wouldnt have a vtec wire. you dont need a laptop for vtec or a VAFC. maybe for like a wild setup, you might want a AEM EMS, which is on the laptop. so yes, if you want vtec your'e gonna need a new ECU, your'e gonna need a new one anyways.
