i am planning on buying a canister muffler made either by skunk2 or 5zigen. i am going to use 2 1/2' exhaust piping from a muffler shop. now this would mean not using the stock muffler, but still making the exhaust come out underneath the stock exhaust lip. do i need to route the piping in the same direction as the stock piping and then bend the piping at the end to make it go to the opposite side? or can i directly send it to the left side of the rear? if possible show some pictures please.

P.S. i understand all that is involved in mapping out the exhaust and welding the bend pieces etc. i am doing it with a friend who has experience with making his own custom exhaust for his car.

 

hedman headers with 2" collector, Catco hi flow cat with 2.25" in and out, 2.25 custom aluminum piping, and Arospeed muffler....

its a long muffler that why its stick out so far

 

as long as you dont have a aftermarket sway bar just have it come straight out on the passenger side. i did and i could feel the difference on the highway. sorry i dont have pics

 

edit- it doesnt stick out as far as it looks and its not photochoped



thats what hes talkin about, i like it like this, less restriction cause of less bends and less pipe the exaust gas has to flow through little more power than the last one i made.

yes i understand that concept, but i think it looks cheesy to have the exhaust come out the opposite side the lip is. i know that i want my exhaust to come out the left side (looking at the rex from the back) so i was wondering what the best way to do it would be. but thanx

 

just cut a lip on the right side. mine doesnt look that bad.

and maybe quality....depends on where you get it done

 

the only reason im getting mine done is cause a friend is going to do it and im on a budget

 

Here's my setup:

4-2-1 ebay header
custom 2.25 inch piping from local muffler shop
an ebay fartpipe
cat replaced with resonator
(I just purchased an Apexi N1 style muffler, i like that look better. not installed yet though, here's my old one)

best bang for buck... all in all 350 bucks for it ALL including header.

That's a really nice setup. I'm looking at doing something like that with two rounded square tips to fil up the whole cutout in the bumper.

well i ran mine up the driver side of car..
i ran it to the cat and turned it right after ther cat and ran it down drivers side and the straight out back..
man i love it that way very straight...
But u will have to make a shield for ur gass lines if u dont u will get vapour lock.

lol, why doesnt someone just go straight out from the header all the way out the back in the middle or maybe just one slight bend and angle it out the driver side. That would be dope and super powerfull
