Default Updated pics of the welded bolt-in Kirk cage, for those who have been following (pics)...

Now that I have a week off finally, I'm actually getting some work done on the car. Last Fri and Sat we finished all the welding and I did some painting today. The cage will eventually be black, but I think it's easier to see with the primer coat so here 'ya go:

As you can see, the cage is a 6pt Kirk bolt-in cage which now has welded sleeves, enlarged/welded foot plates, nASScar door bars, passenger's X bars, dash bar, a petty bar (removable, not in the pics), and gussets galore. I've got lots more pics of there's anything you want to see better. I'm very pleased.

Interesting...how are you going to paint it black if it's in the car?

Well, I managed to primer it in the car, so I plan to paint it black pretty much the same way. Overspray ownz!

Goofy angle? How so?

It seems that...
The top picture isn't an "X", but
under further study the second picture is about an "X".
Camera angle deflection? Doeas it come towards you?
Eh...sorry to nit pick...I'm jealous really.

Yes, it angles out about 4" toward the door. I don't really have a "top" picture of it to show you how much it comes out. Maybe that's why it looks funny.

*EDIT*

Here's the only pic I have of the outward deflection:

Hey travis. Just wondering if you can comment on whether or not that cage will quiet body noise in your car. I have a 95 hatch and will be installing a cage soon and wondering if it, while strengthening the integrity of the body, will eliminate the noise we're all so familiar with in a stripped car. My car is stripped and I can hear all kinds of noises when driving it around town. Like body panels creaking and shifting.

Thanks.

My car is angry and loud all the damn time. Since I have never driven it without a cage except for the day I drove it home I can't really answer your question. However, I would seriously doubt that the cage will do anything for you in terms of noise from a stripped interior. Flex isn't what makes a stripped car so loud, it's reverberations.

civicrr,

I IM'd you.
