Default D16Z6 in 89 CRX SI hell to get right

I did this swap 2 weekends ago

got a D16Z6 with p and p head valvejob and slight milling

dropped it in and used my manifold, diz, and ECU

no vtec activation yet

its SLOW AS HELL????

Im certain VTEC is gonna help some

anyways

Do I need to convert the whole tihng over to OBD1
or just get a vtec controller????

lol Im desperate fellas I even tried to engage vtec with a switch wired to the solenoid
(failed)

I have tye manifold and injectors for it
Someone mentioned a conversion harness

I dont wanna go into rewiring any dash parts

advice?????

u CAN use the Z6 intake manifold... with the OBD electronics. using a PM6....
and yes without VTEC the engine its slow as hell.... after 4800k rpms u dont have any power wasoever.....
just get a MSD switch for now... it will work as a temporary til u go either OBD1 or VAFC....then u will see the difference

I wonder why vtec didnt engage when I wired it to a hot switch on the dash?

incorrect voltage????

I jusr ran a hot SWITCH to the ONE WIRE of the solenoid
left the oil pressure wires alone

drove down the rode easy to 2nd gear then stomped it at 5000 flipped switch and NOTHING

Well did you just put the motor together or what? My freinds Y8 was just rebuilt and at slow it was slow as dirt, then after we broke it in and started getting on it, it got quicker, plus he has an apex vtec controller and all. But anyway do you have the timeing correct? Make sure EVERYTHING is right.

BTW, just hook a 12v source up to the solenoid and see if you hear it click, thats how you will know if its working.

yes just take a hot wire and touch the cable .... u should hear a click on the solenoid..... that switch needs to me activated best in 2nd..... go into second.... go 4k....... floor it... and when u reach about 4800.... flip it...... and hold it.... til redline..... if after 5k it doesnt go..... vtec is not kicking..... if it does pull snicely then u got a working VTEC....

So you guys think a the setup I have now with a VAFC
would be just as good as a complete P28 setup??

considering I could prollly compensate for the fuel map but is the lack of that timing map a big deal???

anyone rechip ECU's??????

?
the stock map for the stock engine tis good,. so the Ps8 it smore desirable
but with a VAFC u got more room for tunning and expandin the power.... so i say Pg7 and a VAFC
