The d16 head is actually the same as the d15 head (as far as the actual head goes). The only difference is the cam, valvesprings, maybe one more thing. If you're gonna replace most of that stuff, you might as well just use the d15 head.

wouldnt it just be easier to take off the d15b head and bolt the d16a6 head on??...the A6 head is already hot tankeD and pressure tested

You seem to be taking the right road. I would highly recommend WEB CAM grind #115-273 for sohc.

I dont think the a1 pistons and rods will fit right in a d15 block. you might want to confirm that though because im not 100% sure.

if you haven't allready, check out http://dseries.org
most of the experts on there say not to mix d16 and d15 internals, it just don't work.
How do you know the a1 pistons will work?

i have been told a1/zc pistons will not fit onto the d15 rods and the a1/zc rods will not fit onto the d15 crank.

are you planning on replacing the bearings at all? i havnt started yet, but i have a b2 block thats getting a z6 head mated to it. i just need to replace 1 or 2 valves in the head and im still thinking about taking apart the b2 bottem end. maybe get the rods shot peened and replace the bearings...im not sure, the block has 140k on it and the bearings looked fine...

the pistons should be interchangeable.......a6 and d15 pistons shouldbe the same, but 89 integra or zc dohc pistons will give you CRAZY high compression, good times there. check out that d series board, lots of info.

all d-deries motors have the same bore but different strokes...so im pretty sure the pistons should fit be not to sure about the rods...with this set-up i should have about 11.0 - 11.1 comp.

hoping for around 140hp on this setup??...the goal is to run 14.9 or better in 88-91 crx or hatch with full interior on street tires....can it be done?

i built a d15 with a1 pistons, and a6 head and cam. It runs strong. don't know the compression, the pistons have the same bore and wrist pin size, but the rods and crank are are bigger than the d15 stuff. You might get 140 hp at the crank if you get all bolts to go with the build. I'd do a good port and polish on it first though.

My next project has turned into a D16a6 with d15 pistons port and polished head and intake manifold with a junkyard turbo setup. In a 91 wagon!!!!!

change of plans....im getting OEM D16A1 pistons OS .50 .....so this weekend im gonna bore out the block to a 75.5 .... no more 1493.42cc its gonna be a 1514.4cc oOOO yea...and instead of buying the Y8 head gasket im just gonna buy the whole gasket kit for the d15 and mill the head .011 which is the difference between the Y8 and B7 headgasket...hopefully the rods will fit on the d16A1 os .5 pistons?
