You can tell when tailights have been painted. It's just not the same. It'll look allright from far away, and it'll still be transparant, but it's just not clean, and doesn't have a *sparkle*

depends on the color of the car i think, on my dark green car, i dont like the sparkle look, and if you paint em good, even at close inspection 99% of people dont notice they are painted.. just make sure u use transparent paint..

Most people can't tell that mine are painted. Of course they are all red rather than the normal red on bottom, amber on top. I have seen many cars that look real bad because they painted their tailights. It fades after a while and they don't look as good as OEM. I had Body Pros in Garden Grove professionally paint mine. They use a mix of candy and laquer to paint it. Unlike the paint most people buy in cans, this does not oxidize or fade, and it looks real clean.I often get complemented on how my tailights look stock. The stuff you buy in a can does not have the pure laquer in it, laquer is real hard to find because it is toxic.
