quest. for those with b16 rexs with HAsport dx-SiR conversion harness
There is the mechanical VSS that comes out of the stock d15b2 tranny that I have waiting to be wired into the b16. I found the spot for it, but there is a plug on the top of it. My question is with the HAsport dx-SiR conversion harness, will the harness come without the plug that i need to take off to put the mechanical VSS on, or no? I know the mechanical VSS that comes stock on my rex has that little gear at the end of it that plugs into the tranny, correct?
The only plug a mechanical VSS has is for the speedo cable. If you have a VSS from a power steering equiped car you might need to loop/block off the hoses for the power stering speed sensor if you disable the power steering.
ok, maybe im not describing this good enough. The part I am talking about it a long bolt that goes into the tranny with a rubber boot at the top of it that you have to pry out in order to get it out, and there is a gear at the bottom of it that goes directly into the tranny. on the b16, there is a hole where that same spot would be to plug that plug with the gear into it, but there is a wire harness plug sitting directly on the top of it covering it that i have to take off in order to get it out. What my question is: Will the HAsport dx-SiR conversion harness just leave off that plugs into that plug from the wire harness?
If the VSS has a plug on it other than the hole for the speedo cable, it is a electronic VSS. So if you use it, you would need to get a gauge cluster from a SIR which uses a signal from the VSS instead of a cable to read speed. You can use the stock speedo/cable/5spd dx VSS on the B16a. To take off the cable, you pull back the rubber boot and unclip the cable from the VSS. The harness should leave out that plug, because most people use the mechanical VSS. If you have 1 million series b16a, it already has a mechanical VSS stock.

ok i dont know what you mean by that, but this is what you should do, as described above. unbolt the mechanical sensor from your d15 and bolt it up to the b series tranny, replacing the electrical sensor and throwing it in the garbage. then, simply plug your speedo cable coming out of your firewall into the mechanical sensor that you just installed. no wires should be used, since its mechanical.
and then plug that cable into the VSS thats already in the b16 after i take off the plug thats on the top of it?
^^^^^^ Yup what he said...sell your JDM tranny's electronic speed sensor and just use your old CRX tranny's mechanical speed gear on your JDM tranny. Your speedo cable will plug right into it.
