im ordering a zc motor for my 91 hatchback in about 3 weeks, does anybody know if they are ready to go in or do they need to be re-built? i always hear about people re-building them--is it becuase they are bad when they get them or just cause they put some use into em'? i planned on getting it from Nippon-Motors Inc., everyone i talked to said that they were good, motors are nice! any info. would help-thanks!

Most ZC engines you will get from a supplier such as Nippon-Motors is low mileage and can be installed without a re-ring. It has been my experience that these engines will operate with little or no oil use for many miles. I have installed or sold about 10 ZC's in the past year and have had to warranty only one for oil use.

It will be necessary to install a new t/belt, crank seal, cam seals, water pump. A valve adjustment with new V/C gasket and grommetts, rear main seal, clutch, NGK spark plugs, wire set, dist/rotor, thermostat and other basic service tems.

The oil pan will proably be bent and will need to be replaced with the one from your old engine. A new O/P gasket will be needed. Check the O/Pump screen while you have the pan off. Apply HondaBond HT to the lps and corners of the O/Pan gasket where it meets the Oil/pump and rear main holder.(Be sure to check the oil pan drain plug boss for damage).

God Bless,

Semper FI,

Angelo.
