Default DPFI to MPFI swap question

I have ordered everything I need now, but I have one question (mabye more later haha) is the SI distributor alot diff than the LX dizzy?> In the write up it says something about wiring to two wires on the dizzy that are blue/gree and blue/yellow wires but i dont see them on the LX dizzy. Are they on the SI one? thanks for the help i know its probably a stupid question but gotta learn somehow

if your going with SOHC MPFI like from a A6, Z6, Y8 you need a HF, SI or EX diz. They are all MPFI set ups. They all have a Cyl position sensor that the DX, STD, LX dont have, all are DPFI. You need this sensor because if you dont the ECU will run limp. Now if your going with a DOHC ZC the sensor isn't in the Diz so you can use the DX, STD, LX diz but you have to wire it to the exhaust cam sensor

alright, can someone clear this up for me - sorry for stealin the post... if I was to get a z6 or something, then I would have to use the si dizzy? I couldn't just use the z6 dizzy that came with the motor? this doesn't make any sense...

No, the Z6 one won't work with the 88~91 ECU. The distributors send out different electrical pulses from the cylinder position sensor. You need to modify the 88~91 MPFI distributor so it will bolt onto the Z6 head so that you can adjust timing and get the correct signal.

ok but if I was to use the p28 ecu, the z6 dizzy would be fine right? (the car would be converted to OBD1)

yeah if you go with a P28 you can use the Z6 diz, You probablly can use the z6 diz with some work OBD0 (i've never got to verifiy this) always hear you cann't but no real reason for this, if you swap the wiring and the sensors read between 350-500 ohms swap the 24 tooth wheel with the 16 from a 88-91 you may be able to, dont hold me to this but throw me a z6 diz and I'll give it a whirl

any certain way i should run the wiring through the engine bay so its a nice clean looking swap? i dont want wires hanging everywhere. and for the resistor box should i just cut the harness from a SI and use it or go buy some wire and run the wire from the injectors to the resistor box and call it a day?

Lacquer thinner.

EDIT: thought you meant on the outside

On the inside, I use throttle body cleaner. It's sensor safe.

Dx diz are 5 wire with a square plug. MPFI OBD diz have 7 wires in a round plug the addl 2 wires are in that plug for that sensor. To clean the intake I've always used carb cleaner then let it dry.

what is this plug for? its on the back of the manifold and it ran to a little metal box that was taken off the back near the throttle body....he cut the damn wires so im guessing i need to get a new one? and 2 of the injectors were broken and 1 was cracked.....upgrade or go with stock? Also the TPS was broken but im am 99.9% sure UPS did it because the broken pieces were in the box and im sure he didnt throw them in there......new factory TB or upgrade? Input plleeeeeeeease

you dont need that plug its a fast idle control if you dont hook it up there is no problems or CEL's. As for the TPS your gonna need a new one any MPFI Throttle body will work 88-00 are all the same. Injectors are all the same except preludes threre larger but I would suggest getting some 88-91 civic, Integras there all 240 injectors and peek hold stock should be fine for a 1.6 SOHC

yep just bolt it back on. I would just go back stock with everything personally. A6 T/B are unique nothing will bolt on easily unless you buy one for a A6. Injectors the stocks should be fine you can go larger but $$$ could be a problem. If you can get some 92-96 prelude injectors that should be about all you need there 340ish and thats about as large as a factory ECU will idle with out a AFC

you may be able to get the t/b also if cheep enough and snag the TPS your gonna need one anyways. the TPS will work on the A6 the T/B itself maynot bolt up but the TPS will work

yes, you need to use the distributor that came with the motor.
