Default Brakes dead? Grinding.. Rotors too? CRX HF! Help!

Alright, today i was driving, and when i press down on my brake it makes a nasty metal scraping sound? Im pretty sure the brake pads are dead because of this, but are my rotors dead too? How can i tell? Also, i have a 91 CRX HF, are the break pads different for the HF then they are for the CRX? Anyone know where i can get some good brake pads for a good price? Also how much should it cost to repair my pads and rotors, if indeed the rotors are gone too? Thank you!

P.S Anyone got a Link to a how to on replacing my brake pads? Thanks!

Easy answer-yes you probably need new pads. If the rotors are scored-and the marks are deep they need replaced, otherwise they can be machined. Acutally cheaper to buy a pair of Brembo plain "blank" rotors and a set of AEM/Nissin pads from Summit. There are other ways to go, but for under $100 you have completely new parts. While doing this service-check to be sure the pistons run smoothly back into the calipers during the changover. You can get pads and rotors elsewhere-but this is the way I do mine and the pads works great.

look at ur front rotors...if there is black or blue marks on it then its burnt...or feel ur hand and fingers over the rotor feeling for any grooves like nasty kind...wanna make sure the rotor aint warped too...rear brakes just take off the drum hub and turn it upside down and give it a pat and take out the brake dust in there. look at the pads see if they in good condition etc. peace,B
