Air Modification Vlave? Need Help Quick!
I just got my JRSC back from Moss Motors. The guys at my shop installed it but said I needed an Air Modification Valve. I called JR and they said they had no idea what that was. Either way the car is idling erraticaly, like bouncing from 1000 to 1500, and sometimes bouncing very quickly from like 1500 to 1600. I took it to a small mechanic, and showed him the wierd idle, and told him I needed an AMV, he said, yes, thats whats causing the idle. So, what are the guys at my shop reffering to?

What they are referring to are the IAC ( idle air control motor) and the Thermo Control Valve.
More that likely it is you Thermovalve, if the car is not throwing a code 14 (obd1)

Its throwing a code. But its OBD2, the local mechanic cant read it, apparently because of my piggyback systems. So its the IAC? Is that a JR piece or is it OEM?

I dont know what or where it is. A friend picked the car up and when he brought it back he said the shop said I needed an Air Modification Valve. They have been closed since, so I cant call them....Any ideas?

Heres the deal, apparently its 69.99, thats what my friend says anyway, thats all he remembers. He also said the shop had it in stock. Which also makes me believe its the IAC. So is the IAC 69.99?

The valve assembly is 165 dollars. #14-15 in the picture. Bascally to check it, pull the harness off the IAC while the motor is at operating temperature. Then if your engine dies, or drops in rpm, the valve is good. If it does not change at all, you need to replace it. A bad valve is what is causeing your idle problems.
How do I know? I just went through the same situation. I did not replace it though. I sprayed the **** out of the valve with carb cleaner since it was all clogged up. Try that first.
