What's the difference between a CX and a DX? Sorry for my ignorance.

What years?

From the factory, the 96-00 DX hatchbacks had a/c and a radio, whereas the CX did not (correct me if I'm wrong). I think the CX didn't come with hubcaps …

The problem is that there are some absolutely awesome topics about this (I started a few of them) but our search archives are down at the moment.

I'll list a few things quickly:

1992-1995

CX has no side moldings, Dx does.

CX has no rear wiper, DX does.

CX has 10.0 gallon fuel tank, DX has 11.9 gallon unit.

DX came std with rear cargo cover, Cx did not.

CX had 70hp 8-valve shitbox motor, DX had 16 valve 102hp better motor with closer geared tranny. Cx has longest, shittiest tranny for acceleration.

I'll post more, but for now read these major differences so you're not pissed.

Yeah I'll cover the 1992-1995 if you'll cover the 1996-2000.

Okay a few more:

Dx had optional auto tranny with P/S for suto-tranny models.

DX has more sound deadening tar than the CX.

I'm sure there's a more, but I have to get back to work.

I believe that the cx also had optional AC and an optional right side mirror.

Was there a difference in stock tire sizes? I am going blank at the moment.

My 96 CX has a/c, a radio, 13 in. wheels , no rear wiper, no power anything, ugly black side skirts and moldings, um......i dunno a small *** gas tank(like 15 to fill on premium while gas is high), crappy tranny and no power under the hood. anyone care to halp me with the last one by offering a y8 head?

but i got it for 2000 in really good condition(no scratches dents chips etc....)

Please specify which years you're talking about.

As far as 1992-1995 Civics go, the stock wheel/tire sizes were the same 175/70/13 for both the Cx and Dx models.

No Cx had p/s, and no USDM Dx had p/s unless it was an auto trannied one.

As far as A/C goes, it was optional for all CX and DX hatches - period. Not one single Cx, VX, or Dx rolled off the Honda assembly line with A/C. If your CX/VX/DX has "factory" Honda A/C then a DEALER installed it after it was delivered to them from the factory.

No 1992 Si hatches had A/C std either, nor did they have radios standard. I *believe* that 1994 was the first year that a radio and A/C were available from the factory on the Si hatch.

Again it could have been added by the dealer. I know for a FACT that the 1992 Si had no FACTORY stereo at all. 1993 could have been different, but remember that A/C and radios were added to many cars before they even hit the lots before customers even saw them. It's called "dealer installed" options much like spoilers and floormats were.

There are plenty of Cxs with Honda A/C and Honda tape deck, but they certainly were not standard or even optional from the FACTORY - dealers added that ****.

i think the A/C would probably be right.......

the deck was pretty well installed and stock when i ripped it apart.......but then again, the dealer can do a pretty good job at it too but that doesnt matter since nobody really have a cassette deck in their cars anymore

Yes, I have a 99 DX with no AC and asked for no Radio. They told me I had to take the radio and begged me to get AC. The dealer also told me that the cars do not come here with AC installed. I can verify that as a "Dealer Installed Option"
