Whats up everybody, im fairly new to the board...I have a question, I own a 1996 civic dx, if I put a ex intake manifold on the dx computer will it trip a check engine light?

 

Welcome nOOb!!! No there shouldn't be any problems. Just make sure that all the sensors are hooked up and that the ex and dx mounts for the throttle body are compatible. You might (MIGHT) have to reroute the throttle cable or use a ex throttle cable. Get more opinions because I am not quite sure. Good idea though...the dx IM sucks *****...I used to have a '96 4dr w/ D16Y7...it blew donkey *****.

 

thanks alot dude, I plan on going vtec in the not so distant future, just short on cash, everybody probly knows how that is, so I plan on putting the head and intake manifold on till I get the ecu, but anyways thanks alot

 

Check it out with more people than just me. The more the info you recieve the better. I am by no means trying to steer you in the wrong direction or make you do something that could f-up your car.

 

What ECU you gonna use??? If you use the stock dx ecu for the ex manifold, remember that the dx ecu is looking for a 3 wire iacv and the ex manifold has 2.

I plan on using the stock dx computer for now...im getting the vtec head and intake manifold, so im gonna put them both on until I can get the ex ecu...I believe its a p2p ecu..not sure
