NeWbi3 buying his first air compressor: what things to look for?
I am going to Sears soon to buy a compressor. What charactoristics(other than 120+PSI) do Ineed to look for here?
I want a vertical design that will conserve space, yet still allow me to turn the wrenches.
Tell me about the models that say oil free, what are the benefits of either one under load?
Please help a NeWb3 out here

the oil free systems allow for better painting results when doing your own painting. get the biggest tank you can get, biggest air pump
FYI, it took about 180psi for me to take out my crank pully bolt with an impact gun.
other than that, i wouldnt know what else to look for. goodluck.

The most important thing to look at is the CFM. Look at the high pressure CFM and low pressure CFM ratings of the compressor, and compare it with the tools you want to use. Stuff like orbital sanders and dual motion sanders usually require a lot more CFM than an impact wrench ar air wrachet. I think home depot has a sale giong on right now. It's a Husky 5hp, 150psi, 6.5 CFM vertical with a bunch of tools (impact wrench, air wrachet, spray gun, air chisel, etc.) for around $300. For the money, it's great.
