Do any of you own a jet ski?
I was just wondering. I own one and I was looking for some people to talk about them. I have a 99 SEA-DOO XP Limited. It has a 951cc motor with 130 hp and it will do a little over 60mph. I was thinking of maybe getting a bike, but I think I would kill myself on it.
I don't own one, but I have been thinking about it. At present time I don't think that I will get one.
Killing yourself on a bike can easily be accomplished, it is just a matter of attitude. Just be sure that you take it easy and don't let testosterone control your wrist, like that would ever happen!

jet ski is nothing but a bike for the water. you can get killed just as easliy on a jet ski as you can with a bike. Water hurts at 15MPH+ in fact by 20 its like concrete. I used to wakeboard and I still ride jetskis. They are fun but also have that one of dying that a bike doesnt. Drowning. They are pretty sweet though. I love to go to cali and use my friends. We go doing flips and barrel rolls and ****. Awsome

I have a Yamaha 1100 Waveraider. There is no comparison to these "boats" (PWC) and motorcycles. I would love to sell my waveraider. I would never sell my Super Blackbird. Unless you live on the coast there are just so many circles you want to turn before things get really boring, and spray in the face is only fun for a few hours.
The number of days you can get good smooth water is limited. You have to trailer the boat to the lake. It's a hassle.

actually it has more to do with molecules. But that could be the technical term for it.
Water has a certain density as does the body. Ever notice that it is easier to move you hand and body though the water slowly vs quickly? The water molecules cant move out of the way of your hand fast enough so you get drag and resistance. Once you hit 15+ forget it. Water is gonna hurt when you hit it.

Yes, water does hurt, but it does not scar you up though. If your worried about drowning, they make life jackets that keep your face out of the water. Kinda like floating like a bouy. My g/f feel off mine at about 35-40 mph and she got right back on. I ski and tube and have fallen off going around 40 mph and don't remember it ever hurting. I met a guy the other day that has a Yamaha GP1200R (brand new) and he has about $6000 worth of mods that is going to jump the HP form 155 to about 270.
He said it will go about 78mph. Maybe faster. I live right by the Ohio River and go there all the time. I get behind barges and large boats and jump waves and other stuff. I never get bored with mine. It also helps if you have other freinds that own them too. You bike guys should know that. There is always about 5 of us that go and not counting the people you meet when you get there.

Rivers are nice. They are much smoother than lakes and sea. I've had the most fun on them. Down here they are dangerous because the levels change so much.
Speed is more a product of the prop than horsepower. You have a choice of getting out of the hole fast, or getting a higher top end. Gearing for the water.
A mechanic who tuned my PWC dislocated his hip turning a 90 deg. at 65mph. I asked him why he did that. He said, "because it's fun!" Fun? NOT.
Good friends make anything more fun.

Ive gotten a couple burns from skiding across the water at a high rate of speed. They scared up but they dissappeared quickly
I had to wear a towel the rest of the day. DOH
I thought about getting a new prop for my jet ski, but I have not gotten around to it. I have been spending more money on my car trying to make it faster. As of right now though, I am paying to get it fixed since I bent every valve it has.
