Is The B17a Crank as good as the newer b series vtec cranks
if you ask it that way, definately dont know what you are asking about.
the advantages of running the 81.4 stroke crank is better R/S ratio
less sideloading, you can run a larger piston more accurately and rev
higher without losing too much TQ or bottom end. On the stock bore
it makes the B series engine essentially SQUARE, its a great way to make
not only power, but TQ at higher output levels. This setup would be ideal
for any kind of FI application, at least from a textbook perspective.
SQUARE meaning same bore and stroke. The K motor for instance in the
Type S RSX, 86/86 bore and stroke... thats a beast waiting to be unleashed.
Honda got 100ps/liter without even trying with that motor's stock tuning.
Im not an engine builder, however any Honda engine builder will make
extra effort to ****** up any atrat B17 crank, thats for sure.
