Small dent in intake pipe hurt performance?
I just purchased an AEM ITR CAI for my SI, and I noticed that on the bend closest to the filter, there is a slight dent in the piping. Not a big dent, not even deep at all, just slightly. Would this do anything to hurt performance?
why don't you just send it back? i'm not the smartest on aerodynamics(sp) but i bet AEM the people who call themselves the best have a reason for everysingle bend, and if there is some random dent in the pipe it could slightly increase or decrease the way the air spins, but overall i doubt the performance will be even noticible on the dyno.
i doubt that there would be any kind of difference in ur hp #'s. try and push it out somehow if u want. or, if its new, just send it back. thats probly ur best bet.
Since it's already installed, I'd rather not go throught the hassle of trying to return it. And it was on sale at a local shop for being the display model so I got a good price on it. I personally don't think there would be any difference with a dent there, but I just wanted to know if anyone had any insight.
air turbulence wouldnt be affected with a small dent....dont worry about it, your stock intake comes with hundreds of "small dents".....late

I'll see if I can take a pic tommorow with my friends digi. But the general consensus seems ti be that it wouldnt affect performance.
yes it will affect your performance. buy a new one and give me yours for free
juz playing. i bet you won't find any difference on the dyno.

yah you just lost about 5hp, and what about all those dents in your exhaust piping from stuff flying up from the road? I think your losing more and more hp by the day
and all the small dents one your car's body and hood are really making your aerodynamic performance suffer....lol jp bro......your intake is fine
yea, so do you notice any performance difference with your intake now? how do you like em? let us know.
