Today I got problems with my stock brakes while I was running my 3rd lap on track (after 50km of racing).
The stock brakes use to overheat very fast, nothing new to me but today I think I`ve burnt the brake pads.. I lost 50% pressure on the pedal and was forced to take it slow to the pit.
Now my question:
I`m heading to buy a AP brake setup but I haven`t got the money now (2500$)..
During the next 3 months I need some ideas to upgrade my stock brakes a little cheaper... I have to run one training session next sunday and a amateur event at the end of April (track).
What have you done to your stock brakes to make them brake better and last longer during the race ??
Thanks for your info and sorry for my english.

1st:
-flush the brake fluid and replace with better fluid (ATE Type 200/Super Blue is a nice first step)
2nd:
-remove the spash shields from the front wheels like this

3rd:
-purchase better front brake pads (Ferodo DS2500 or DS3000 or a Mintex application if you find them)
4th:
-run duct work to the front brakes to help control the temperatures
5th:
-install the AP setup

Stock ITR brakes are very good. Definitely try a $120 set of brake pads before a $2500 kit. Like from http://www.carbotecheng.com, perhaps.

Yeah, try some good fluid and pads and ducting before you blow your wad on a big brake setup. A fairly stock TypeR has more than enough brakes, when setup properly, for a safe and enjoyable track weekend.

sorry about the post-whoring... Willard, is that ball joint boot insulation working out for you ? I remember you tried to put that on last year to keep from melting the rubber boot when running without the splash shield. Update?
Why would he buy American? He lives in Germany.
Doh!!!Hmm, well then. Carbotech has a European facility in England.....

In any event, what these guys said. Pads made for the temperature enviroment you see on track will solve your problem.
