While I do not know from personal experience, I have heard that shaving the stock flywheel is bad. Especially shaving as much as you want to. Anyone else comment on that one? I personally went with a Toda flywheel. I love it! It revs nicely.
Then there is the great chromolly (sp?) vs. Aluminum flywheel debate. I'm not going to touch that one.

i have the comptech and I love it.
boba- whos motor spins just about as fast as the ITR's on Gran Turismo 2 does with the lightweight flywheel upgrade.

if you want your flywheel to last and not shatter or warp....do not go less then 11-12lbs....thats the safest weight for a stock flywheel....if you want lighter....then go with either a Fidanza or Toda, JUN or anything else.....
then the choice becomes which material you want to use....
Fidanzas and Mueller are aluminium weight about 7-8lbs and sell usually for about $300 shipped....Toda, Cusco and Excedy are cromoly and sell for about $100-200 more....
if you get your old flywheel, resurfaced, balanced and lightened (quality work) it costs about $100-150.....but its still oem flywheel and its prone to damage....
so sell your ITR flywheel for about $75-100....get the fidanza for $300...and you actually only spent $50 more on a quality flywheel...

Go with the Comptech/Clutchmasters one. They are the same exact thing. Comptech is sliver, CM is blue. There are about 4 or 5 guys running them locally, including myself. No problems yet, and YES I am a firm believer that aluminum flywheels are better than chromoly.

comptech is 6 lbs and clutch bastards is 8 lbs so thats not the same weight that a lot of rolling weight if u sit down and think about it
Hey Guys
I have ordered the Excedy which is 9.1 Lbs do you think that I will notice a big improvement in acceleration ??? Will it make that much of a difference and to top it off is that a goof flywheel ???????
Thanks again

clutch masters is the way to go, but u have to put the engine mounts in or it won't be as effective. And u can use the stock flywheel thats what they(clutch masters) use to test them. one punch

i had a clutch bastards in my last eg and it made a diffrence in how acceleration and revving was concerned....
now im using a comptech in my ek and damn.....what a diffrence 2 pounds will make...not only does it rev alot faster and accelerate better...but the rpms drop really quick...alot faster than my clutch bastards did.....and its not at all hard to drive with as some people have told me....good luck

What's the weight of a stock flywheel? Just out of curiosity, how difficult is it to install yourself? I know it takes a lot of TIME, but difficulty for someone who is just now learning to work on cars. If too difficult, what's approx. cost to have someone else do it.
thanks guys
